What is a Disclosure?A Disclosure is a document containing information held by the police and government departments. Disclosures are provided by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) through registered Bodies. The Disclosure is used by employers to make informed recruitment decisions.Disclosures will provide details of a candidate’s criminal record including convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings held on the Police National Computer. If the position involves working with children, then the Disclosure will also include lists held by the Department of Health and the Department of Education and Skills of those considered unsuitable for this type of work. Depending upon the level of Disclosure, it might also contain information held by the local police. Anyone can apply for a criminal record check, although the individual must sign the application, i.e. you cannot get a CRB check on someone else without their knowledge or permission.
