"I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the carers that visited Mum and made her final weeks as comfortable as they could be. They dealt with her with a real sense of professionalism and dignity. Mum was a highly intelligent individual who had led a life of adventure and travel in conditions which could be quite challenging. It was a pleasure to see that staff afforded her that respect as a matter of course – understanding that people who have lived through the past half century are resilient, self-reliant and tough and should be treated as such. I’d also like to thank you for being so flexible with your hours. To be able to accommodate such rapid change was such a relief and meant that we could work and sleep knowing that she was being cared for. I wish every one of you the very best and give you all my heartfelt thanks."
