SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside is a franchise of SureCare Community Services Limited owned and operated by SureCare Newcastle Limited.

The decision to enter the SureCare family came primarily from our mother. Working in the industry since 2008, she felt the family could come together to start a business, providing high quality care and support to our community.

The business is managed by two brothers, Akshay and Manish Duggal.

Akshay has an educational background in a health-related industry. Akshay’s passion for health and science has allowed him to transfer the skills and understanding learnt from his Biomedical Science degree to SureCare.  Akshay’s degree has also helped him to acquire a deeper understanding of good physical and mental health, while bringing creative, compassionate and professional solutions to ensure the delivery of care is always kept person-centred.

Manish has worked both in the UK and his home country of India. Having completed his foundation degree in Business Management, he decided to relocate and manage the family run hotel; after that he moved back to the UK and developed a successful property portfolio.  He brings with him a wealth of business knowledge.

The two are a great match and together make up the perfect duo to head up SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside, along with Mum of course.

As looking after our elders is embedded in our culture, we are passionate about providing high quality care for all service users. Our care philosophy is “treat others the way you would treat your own family”.

Our local roots enable us to understand what our clients need, which is the ability to provide flexible and affordable person-centred care tailored to our clients’ needs. Our bespoke services are for life’s journey, they range from support with childcare, to elderly care and anything in between. We can provide the care you need whatever that may be from as little as a 20-minute call to 24/7 live-in care.

Meet the Team

Sarah Armstrong
Registered 
Manager

Sarah joined SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside in November 2017.

She started her career in the care sector over nine years ago, working her way through various roles before progressing to a managerial position.  Sarah’s always been very passionate about home care and feels it is such a rewarding job, supporting service users to enable them to remain at home for as long as it is safe and practical for them to do so.

Sarah is committed to supporting SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside’s care workers and encourages all staff to achieve their maximum potential with training and mentoring.  She has an open-door policy and all staff are aware that Sarah will help and support them as best she can.

SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside completed their first CQC inspection in July 2019 receiving a ‘Good’ rating in all five areas and in 2021 were awarded a ‘Top 20 Home Care Providers North East England 2021 Award’ by homecare.co.uk for the third year in a row.  Sarah feels very proud of all the staff for their hard work and commitment, and for the part she played in achieving these great results.  She’s looking forward to maintaining these high standards whilst continuing to promote SureCare’s values and ensuring they meet all regulatory requirements.


Carol Wilson
Quality Officer

Carol began her journey in care eight years ago and has progressed to team leader within a very short time.

Carol joined the SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside team in February 2018.  Her daily responsibilities are to make sure documentation is current and personalised for the individual; she also monitors quality assurance and liaises with service users, their families and health care professionals, working in partnership to ensure the service users best interests are at the centre of everything they do.  Care workers are also supported and monitored by Carol to ensure all staff can meet the standards of care required.

Carol enjoys getting to know the service users and feels it’s very rewarding knowing the part she plays in helping them to continue living safely in their own home, promoting their independence and quality of life.


Anne Bulmer

Recruitment Officer

Anne joined SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside in June 2020.

Although Anne’s background is recruitment, she initially joined as a care worker as she wanted to give back to the community. However, in September 2020 Anne also took on the responsibilities of recruitment officer merging both roles into one.

A large part of Anne’s role is recruiting successful care workers and supporting them throughout their SureCare journey, this is includes pre-screening, conducting interviews through to job offers.  Anne ensures all policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe and fair recruitment process.

Anne said “I enjoy seeing the care workers progress and succeed in their roles.  It is rewarding seeing them grow into care workers who provide the best care to our service users”.


Zoe Allman

Quality Officer

Zoe joined in January 2020 as a care worker.  She quickly decided this was the career path she wanted to pursue and by the October had progressed to quality officer!

In this role Zoe supports staff with developing their own knowledge and any personal development plans.  She also meets our service users and ensures information is communicated correctly to staff, so that the care delivered is person-centred.  Zoe is also responsible for following up on health concerns to ensure the correct care is given in a timely manner.

Zoe thrives on the part she plays in the high standard of care being delivered, meeting new staff and services users, and watching staff grow in their role.


Max Rebelo

Care Co-ordinator

Max originally joined SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside in September 2020, taking on the role of care co-ordinator in August 2021.

A large part of the care co-ordinator role involves communicating with all parties involved to ensure the delivery of a safe and high standard of care to all our service users. Max creates weekly schedules for care staff to ensure that all care calls are covered, the service user always comes first and care staff are happy within their role. Max listens openly to service users and staff, offering support where needed.

Max believes that working together is the best way to deliver a successful service. She has developed good working relationships with both staff and service users to ensure that everyone is happy and feels supported. Through these relationships Max endeavours to maintain open communication with all parties, with the aim of exceeding expectations and contributing towards the growth of the SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside family.


Leila Pereira

Admin Assistant

Leila joined SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside in August 2021.

Leila’s main role is to provide general office support to either an individual or the team, as this is vital for the smooth-running of the business. Leila’s general administrative functions include answering phones; greeting, referring or assisting visitors, staff and others; preparing documents and reports; compiling records; organising and maintaining information; analysing data and ensuring care workers keep up with mandatory training.

“I was studying Business Admin at Gateshead College when I applied for a Junior Admin support position at SureCare Newcastle & North Tyneside.  It was the first time I’ve worked in an office, and I was not 100% sure what to expect out of college grounds, even though I had an idea of the work environment.  They have been great to me, patiently showing me how things are operated and providing the necessary training.
