Hello to everyone from, the team at SureCare North Leeds! We hope you are staying safe and managing to stay as busy as you can whilst staying in. Our home care team are committed to ensuring our clients receive their home care service in Leeds as normal!

We’re a full week into lock down now, although for some it feels much longer. We wanted to share with you OUR top five tips for getting through the lock down period!

1. Routine

Working in the care sector means we know just how important a stable routine is. Having a healthy routine allows you to pass time more smoothly, stay organised and gives you a sense of accomplishment. If you’re an early riser normally then don’t let the lock down change this. Rising early in the morning allows you to make the most of the day, doing the things you love! It also means you’re more likely to be that little bit more tired, when it comes to the evening, and it’s time for you to sleep!

2. Stay In Contact

Our health care assistants have been assisting service users remain in contact with their families. Whilst providing our quality home care service in Leeds, we have been setting up technology such as facetime, zoom and skype for our service users to enjoy. The results have been amazing!

One service user was expecting a visit from her daughter, son in-law and two grandchildren but when the news of COVID-19 broke loose these plans were very quickly cancelled. As you can imagine this was heart breaking for our service user. However, our very own health care assistant Claire was quick to execute a plan using technology. Using a laptop, TV, HDMI cable she was able to use technology to video call our service users family all the way in Australia.

3. Use Your Space – Including Your Garden

Our health care assistants have been assisting service users into their garden for fresh air, walks and even a spot of gardening. Our home care service is all about promoting independence and even with a lockdown, we’re finding creative ways to help our service users through this time by doing the things they love and respecting social distancing measures at all times.

4. Keep Practicing Your Hobbies

The stories being shared by our health care assistants currently bring joy to the ears. Some service users are indulged in old hobbies including their love for instruments, books and classic movies. Our health care assistants have been on hand to help retrieve these items deep within closets or even the loft. It’s been truly heart-warming to see the incredible impact one small item makes.

Think – do you have a favourite instrument you once played, a book you never quite managed to finish, or a film you haven’t seen in so long? If the answer is yes, now is a great time to go and search for it!

5. Stay Updated On COVID-19 News
